Tyler the creator directs a Converse shoe commercial

Tyler, the Creator has had many brand deals in past. Currently, Converse is one of his major brand collaborations. Over the past few years, Converse and Tyler the Creator dropped sneakers called GOLF le FLEUR. Nowadays, Tyler is helping Converse on a new campaign.

On Thursday (July 21), Converse released a video that was directed by rapper Tyler the Creator. The online commercial features a group named the “Really Cool Converse Club” and the ad showcases them having a meeting. Actor Tim Meadows was playing a member of this group in which he was wearing a denim hat.

In the video you can see hip hop artist Vince Staples sharing a few lines of his fashion. The members of the club were then determining the status of individuals in relation to the fashion group. You can see the video on YouTube below.

Odd Future Jasper, Vince Staples, and Bill Walton Featured in Commercial

Odd Future’s Tyler the Creator published an extended version of this commercial to his Instagram. The extended commercial which features former NBA Hall of Famer Bill Walton, rapper Vince Staples, and Odd Future member “Jasper”. Tyler told Dazed about the campaign. ““The name was not planned out, We couldn’t come up with a name, so we decided to come up with the cheapest name, and it was funny as hell, so it worked out.” 

Tyler the Creator mentioned that the short film / commercial was inspired by all different kinds of people that wear Converse. He says, “There’s so many different types of people that wear this shoe and I just wanted to put them all in one place,” Tyler continued. “Regardless of whether it makes sense or not, just seeing them all under the one roof was important.”
