Cardi B returned to the popular podcast Million Dollaz Worth of Game on Friday, March 15th, in an episode titled "Cardi B: Million Dollaz Worth of Game Episode 265." The interview crackled with the Bronx-born rapper's signature energy, offering a glimpse into her creative process, thoughts on navigating fame, and some spicy takes on finances in relationships.
Below are some of the significant points in the interview, along with quotes. You can also watch the full video on YouTube below.
Cardi B opened up about the pressure to constantly deliver hits, admitting, "I always feel like I gotta put out music, you know. It's like this pressure on me. Because every time I put out some music, it's like, 'Okay, when's the next one coming?'" However, this pressure comes with its downside. "But then I be overthinking it," she confessed. "Like, 'Is this good enough? You know what I'm sayin'? Is this going to, you know, is the fans gonna like it? Is it gonna live up to the hype?'" Cardi B, a self-proclaimed perfectionist, revealed, "And then I'm a perfectionist, you know what I'm sayin'? So I will be like, 'Oh, this ain't it. I gotta go back in the studio.'"
The interview showcased a more personal side of Cardi B as she discussed the challenges of balancing motherhood with her music career. "Motherhood is good, well motherhood is like...like these past two months I've been like I haven't been in New York and so you know like being away from my kids like that's been kind of hard you know and then like just like the discipline like you know they going to this school they gotta do this they gotta do that and like you know it's just like a whole other thing but it's a blessing you know I wouldn't trade it for the world at all and then like. But yeah, motherhood is good; being a mom is good. It's just like, you know, sometimes it's frustrating to know, especially when you're a working mom. You know, it's just like you gotta juggle a lot of things, but other than that it's amazing, and you know, I want more," she shared.
Cardi B also addressed the impact of social media on her life. "I'm scared to talk about certain things because, you know, this generation is so sensitive. You know what I'm sayin'? Like anything you say can be taken the wrong way," she said. This fear of online negativity has led her to consider a break. "You know, I used to be more myself. You know, like I wouldn't even think twice about nothin'. But now, like everything is just overthinking everything. I'm thinkin' about takin' a little break from social media. You know, because I feel like I can't even say nothin' no more without people gettin' offended."
Cardi B dives headfirst into the debate about splitting bills 50/50. She acknowledges the controversial nature of her stance before diving into a specific scenario: a couple with equal incomes where the man shoulders all the financial burden.
"How y'all ever gonna save up to buy a house or buy a business if you make the same money but he pays all the bills?" Cardi B questions. She also criticizes the internet's influence on real-life relationships, suggesting that online discussions have warped people's perceptions. "The internet messes with people's heads when it comes to real-life stuff," she states.
Cardi B's relationship advice comes amidst a rollercoaster ride with her husband Offset. Late last year, a very public social media meltdown announced their split, with Cardi B accusing Offset of infidelity.
