Shaq took to his Instagram page to confirm the inclusion of the unreleased Nas verse, excitingly announcing: 'You Can't Stop the Reign' is coming to D.S.P.s this Friday. And guess what? An unreleased Jay-Z + Nas track is included!'
This collaboration, which would have marked the first time Jay-Z and Nas shared a track, was a monumental event in the hip-hop world in 1996. Both rappers were at the peak of their early careers, with Jay-Z's "Reasonable Doubt" and Nas' "It Was Written" albums having been released just a year prior, evoking a sense of nostalgia among fans.
Although the exact reason behind the exclusion of Nas' verse initially remains unclear, Shaq downplayed any animosity in a 2022 interview with Drink Champs. "People didn't clear it," Shaq said. "Look, I didn't take it personally… me being in the studio with Nas, I'm happy."
