A$AP Rocky sat down with Jason Lee on The Jason Lee Show for a wide-ranging conversation that included fashion, fatherhood, and the late A$AP Yams. During the interview, Lee pressed Rocky on Tyler, The Creator’s sexual identity, setting up a moment where Rocky offered a seemingly direct response.
The episode also came after Rocky finished the North American leg of his Don’t Be Dumb tour in July, with a global run set to launch after that. In the interview, Rocky appeared to lean on his offscreen friendship with Lee while discussing multiple topics, including his relationship with Rihanna and his children, before addressing the question Lee asked about Tyler.
At one point, Lee asked whether Tyler, The Creator was trolling about his sexual identity or if he was “truly gay.” Rocky tried to avoid fully answering, but Lee kept pushing. After the back-and-forth, Rocky joked, “That n*gga gay” as the pair laughed.
Rocky later did not confirm or deny in a straightforward way, but he did say, “Look, it walk like a duck, quack like a duck” and added that Tyler plays “as if he is.”
Beyond the Tyler, The Creator exchange, the interview included Rocky gushing about his romance with Rihanna and his children. Rocky also confirmed that his love is in the studio working on music. The report notes that listeners should not expect Rocky and Lee to do a joint project together.
