In a recent interview with XXL Magazine, Atlanta rapper Gunna opened up about his significant weight loss, the ongoing legal case involving YSL Records, and his upcoming album, "One of Wun."
Gunna revealed he lost "30-40 pounds" after being released from jail in 2022. He credits the weight loss to a combination of forced dietary changes while incarcerated and a newfound commitment to fitness upon his release.
"Less eating. Especially when I went to jail, I lost a lot of weight. Just like cleansing. Detoxing. And when I got home, I started working out and just keeping fit. And now, I'm on a year straight of all working out," Gunna told XXL.
The interview coincides with a challenging period for Gunna and his YSL Records collective, as they navigate a complex RICO case. Despite the circumstances, Gunna stands firm, maintaining his innocence and refusing to let the situation define him. His decision to plead guilty under an Alford plea, while controversial, underscores his resolve to move forward.
"I definitely feel like everybody's been misled," Gunna said in the interview, referencing the public perception of his cooperation. "And like, you know, when you're being misled, you got a choice to follow or make your own decisions. And that's what is being shown right now. You're being a follower, or you're being neutral to be like, 'I don't know what their business is or what they really got goin' on.'"
Gunna remained tight-lipped about the specifics of the ongoing case but acknowledged the toll it has taken on his career.
Despite the legal challenges, Gunna expressed his focus on the future. He discussed his upcoming album, "One of Wun," which he describes as a representation of his growth and evolution as an artist.
"This album is still showing growth. Showing me growing into a man because I've been more disciplined. I've been tapping into different things. I've been living in a different space. I feel like you'll hear that in the music," Gunna said.
The interview also touched on Gunna's philanthropic efforts, including his "Gunna's Great Giveaway Guaranteed Income Program" and his desire to inspire others.
"It's just something more. I'm just tryna keep what I've already started going, and even more of just giving back and just tryna to lead us," Gunna said about his philanthropy.
Gunna's commitment to his health and well-being is unwavering. With a new album on the horizon, he's not only focused on his music but also on maintaining a healthy lifestyle. This dedication, coupled with his resilience, signals a promising future for the Atlanta rapper.
